Today, just right after I published my previous blogs. I went shopping for my friends at Woolworths .
They wanted to make sushi for dinner, so they texted me to buy the ingredients.
When it happened.
I was carrying a shopping bag with all my stuff and the things I have bought including a continental cucumber, and queueing up for the cashier counter.
I was standing behind a lady who dressed up like an office lady and in front of two young boys in early twenties.
One of bustards said: cucumber for your bum.
They were laughing, then.
I knew it was pointing at me.
I turned around and said: pardon, what you said?
One bustard said it again: cucumber for your bum.
The other one said: where're you from? Chinese?
I said: NO.
He said: Thai? Japanese? Korean?
And the other one repeated: cucumber for your bum.
I was very upset and I was thinking what I could do with this situation.
I wanted to fight with them by fluent English swearing but I couldn't. I know I can never fight with others by any fluent language.
She didn't answer.
Then one said: Vietnamese! you're Vietnameeeeese! right?
I didn't want to answer. I said: don't you dare say that again.
They kept laughing.
I nearly bursted out to punch them...
And I said: fuck, are you racism?
Then one said: all right, it's a joke.
The other said: joking joking.
Then it was my turn to pay for my goods and I walked to cashier counter and said: it' not funny.
They walked to another counter and said: it's funny.
And kept laughing.
I don't want to judge this kind of matter of real life. Just like the title.
By the way, Adelaide is a welcoming city for multicultural visitors or immigrants. Since I came to here, I have seen or been in many multicultural festivals held in Adelaide. Howevery I am so dispointed this matter happened in this city. I just saw a film of Mexico Film Festival touring in Adelaide called "Los Bastardos". I was so amazed by its realistic description, and so by the reality.
